Bacchus walking tour

Discover the glories and marvels of Alsace in the Kaysersberg Valley. You will follow paths through the vineyards which have made the reputation of the great wines of Alsace, and visit museums dedicated to these riches - not to omit the essential wine tasting !

Level

The chosen walks are suitable for anyone in reasonable physical condition. 

Walking time

12 to 20 km per stage or 4 to 6 hours walking per day - from 500-800 metres change in level.

Dates

Arrival possible every day of the week and weekend from 15 March to 15 November. Outside these dates, please contact us.

Equipment needed

Good walking shoes (avoid new shoes), rain protection, small back pack for your daily needs, reusable water bottle and cutlery.

Included

  • 3 nights wiht breakfast included
  • 1 dinner (drinks not included)
  • 2 picnic meals 
  • Visit to the Wine and Vineyard Museum or 1 wine tasting 
  • 1 visit to the Eaux de Vie Museum or 1 visit of a Distillery 
  • 1 wine tasting
  • 1 bottle of "Grand Cru" wine offered (1 bottle per room)
  • 1 road book for 1 to 6 people (see example) available at your first hotel with technical information and a detailed 1:25000 map
  • transfer to your first hotel from the nearest station OR car park
  • transfers between hotels

Itinerary

Planned around dates convenient to you subject to availability at the hotels. In all cases the organisers will contact you before your arrival to confirm your choices.

Day 1: Welcome at Lapoutroie. Visit and tasting at the Eaux de Vie Museum or visit Distillery. Regional speciality dinner.
Day 2: Breakfast, and then walk through the foothills of the Vosges. Open air picnic. Visit to the Wine Museum in Kientzheim. Free for dinner.
Day 3: After breakfast, a walk across the vineyards. Open air picnic. Wine tasting at a wine producer's cellar. Free for dinner.
Day 4: Leave after breakfast.
