Medieval walking tour

Castles, fortified bridge, ramparts, towers, gates ... Many sites and relics that testify to a rich middle-age past.

This hike will take you through the corridors of time to explore our history

Level

The chosen walks are suitable for anyone in reasonable physical condition.

Walking Time

4 to 5 hours, 400m to 600 m elevation.

Arrival possible every day of the week and weekend from 15 March to 15 November. Outside these dates, please contact us.

Availability is assured and departure guaranteed from 15 March to 15 November. Outside these dates and for long weekends with public holidays, please contact us beforehand to ensure availability.

Equipment needed

Walking Schoes, waterproof protection and small backpack for business the day, reusable water bottle and cutlery.

  • 1 road book for 1 to 6 persons (see example) available at your first hotel with technical information and a detailed 1:25000 map

Itinerary

The hiking route may be modified or another program suggested, according to hotel availability, but wil be confirmed upon booking.

Day 1 Check in at LABAROCHE. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 2 Breakfast. Hiking to the ruins of the castle HOHNACK from the Xii century. You will have beautiful views of the valley. You'll keep hiking to TURCKHEIM and its remarkable historical heritage and NIEDERMORSCHWIHR charming little wine village known as the Morswihr from 1148. 5h - 15km - + 210m - 680m. Dinner and Accommodation.
Day 3 Breakfast. The hike begins from a pnoramic hiking path, . We stop at KATZENTHAL where you can look at the ruins of a château of Wineck, built around 1200. The path continues through the medieval city of AMMERSCHWIHR and KAYSERSBERG, dominated by its imposing imperial castle whose construction dates back to the thirteenth century. 4h - 12 km - +380m -380m. Dinner and Accommodation.
