Itinerary

Day 1 Welcome to KAYSERSBERG, a medieval city dominated by the imposing imperial castle. Its cobbled streets lined with half-timbered houses and historic monuments are full of charm. It’s the birth town of Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Nobel Peace Prize in 1952.

Day 2 We leave the vineyard through the Toggenbach, a pretty wooded valley, to cross a magnificent forest; We stop at the chapel of Saint Alexis: a legend has it that the young girls who pull the bell and go around it 3 times get married a year. We reach the green township. It takes its name from the landscapes that compose it: rolling highlands, meadows, forests and hills. We arrive at LAPOUTROIE, a verdant village surrounded by meadow and forest and well known for its delicious brandy and its famous Munster cheese. (6h/20km/+793m/-600m or 4h/16km/+532m/-340m)

Day 3 On the third day, our hiking circuit takes us to the Brézouard massif, summit and northern limit of the Vosges (1229 m altitude) where we have several magnificent views of the whole massif and the Alsace plain. We continue our way through the Bagenelles, to end our day of hiking in LE BONHOMME, a charming mountain village. (6h/16km/+702m/-433m)

Day 4 The tour takes us to L’étang du Devin, a bog full of floral varieties and rare species. It’s a wild and protected place whose atmosphere immediately seduces. We continue our route towards Tête Des Faux, a summit which takes its name from the beech forest (Fau in old French) which covered it. We can see ancient vestiges dating from the 1914 war there because this place was a front line during the First World War. We continue our journey to the impressive site of Lac Blanc, an altitude lake embedded in a glacial cirque at an altitude of around 1050 meters and dominated by the strange "Hans" rock. We arrive in ORBEY, a small town located in the land of a thousand streams, at the foot of the blue line of the Vosges. (6h/15km/+601m/-819m)

Day 5 Direction the trembling stone, a monument related to the cult of the druids. We then climb to the ruins of the Petit Hohnack castle dating from the 11th century. Once one of the most beautiful fortresses in Alsace, this medieval castle is the highest in the Vosges mountains and rises to an altitude of 940 m. We then arrive at LABAROCHE, a small, very picturesque mountain village. (4h/12km/+569m/-243m)

Day 6 The tour starts with TROIS EPIS, a pilgrimage famous since the 15th century with a grandiose panorama of the Alsace plain; then we return to the vineyards via TURCKHEIM, a typical village renowned for its rich historical center. We end our hike by NIEDERMORSCHWIHR, a charming little wine-growing village, nestled in the middle of the vineyards, known as "Morswilre" since 1148. It has a rare architectural curiosity: the twisted roofed bell tower of its church, dating from the 12th century. (4h/13km/+172m/-656m)

Day 7 End of stay after breakfast.
