Hiking first war memory

Due to its border specificity, Alsatian Vosges were the scene of heavy fighting during the worl war 1
from 1914 to 1918. The hike will take you on the battlefield among the highest in the western front, the imposing altitude pastures of this No Man's Land you would also walk trough the cantonments in the against-slopes.

The chosen walks are suitable for anyone in reasonable physical condition.

Walking Time

4 to 6 hours, 400m to 600 m elevation.

Equipment needed

Walking Schoes, waterproof protection and small backpack for business the day, reusable water bottle and cutlery.

Itinerary

The hiking route may be modified or another program suggested, according to hotel availability, but wil be confirmed upon booking.

Day 1 check in at LAPOUTROIE or BONHOMME located on the front line. Dinner and Accommodation.
Day 2 L’étang du devin , where we can see the remains of ingenious German military work. The hike continues through the battlefield of La Tête Des Faux (altitude : +1200) and the Lac Blanc in Observatory Belmont , then the Black Lake where there was a large encampment of French troops. ORBEY. 6h - 16km - + 530m - 690m. Dinner and Accommodation.
Day 3 start in Orbey and progress in observation area not far from le linge * battlefield. LABAROCHE, the rear area of ​​the battlefield collet du linge. 5h - 12 km - +450m -450m. Dinner and Accommodation.
Day 4 Breakfast. Departure.

We suggest you to extend your stay for half a day to visit the collet du linge memorial museum
10 minutes by car.
